About Ominous Press

First published in 1994, Ominous Press has returned to the comic marketplace, creating an entire universe of epic adventure. Led by Chief Creative Officer Bart Sears, Publisher Sean HusVar, Editor-in-Chief Ron Marz, Ominous is committed to telling exciting stories of heroes and villains, supported by some of the best artwork found in comics.

BART SEARS

Bart Sears has been drawing comics professionally for 30 years, working for DC, Marvel, Valiant, CrossGen, Image, Dark Horse and a number of other publishers.  His powerful, bold art style has graced titles including "X-O Manowar" and "Turok" for Valiant an "Justice League Europe" and "Batman' for DC.  He is also known for his many Wizard Magazine covers, and his "Brutes and Babes" art tutorials.

Bart's talents have also been applied to toys, designing C.O.P.S., G.I. Joe, and WWF for Hasbro and X-Men for ToyBiz and video games, producing concept art for Heatwave Interactive and Halani Games. Bart is the creative force behind Ominous Press, an imprint he first deputed in the mid-'90s, telling relentless, powerful, compelling tales of heroes.

SEAN HUSVAR

Sean HusVar's successful business and artistic career has spanned the last 30 years, paralleling the entertainment and technology industries for much of that time.  Sean's true value at Ominous is his diverse background in business finance, marketing, and leadership.

His past ventures include creative and technology initiatives spanning 25 years as founder and President of Edgenet, Inc., which created online presence for Todd McFarlane's Spawn, Wizard Magazine, F.A.O. Schwartz, Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Major League Baseball, NASA, an numerous Fortune 500 companies.  Sean was also chairman and co-founder of Chek.com (now Synacor SYNC), and a gallery owner at HusVar Fine Art.  More recently, he founded the retail collectibles businesses Sleeping Giant Ventures, and Slab-Pro, Inc.  His own artistic pursuits include developing a body of surreal and arresting fine art photography.

RON MARZ

Ron Marz has been writing comics for more than two decades, starting his career with a lengthy run of "Silver Surfer" for Marvel.  Since then, he has worked for virtually every major publisher and compiled a long list of credits, including stints on "Green Lantern" and "Superboy" for DC "Thor" for Marvel, "Star Wars" for Dark Horse, "Witchblade" for Top Cow/Image, and "Skylanders" for IDW.  He also wrote the classic "Marvel vs. DC" crossover.

Marz's creator-owned series include the all-ages fable "Dragon Prince" at Top Cow, the historical adventure "Samurai:  Heaven and Earth" at Dark Horse, and the vampire tale "Shinku" at Image.  He now turns his creative attention to all things Ominous, as both writer and editor.
